United States on Tuesday announced the imposition of entry bans on some Chinese officials. The move is a part of implementing the Reciprocal Access to Tibet Law passed by the US president in 2018. The demand for reciprocity in terms of access into Tibet by the US has never been recognised by China leading to this outcome.
The US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on Tuesday announced by Twitter that US is imposing visa restrictions on Chinese officials involved in restricting foreigners access to Tibet. Although the number of officials was not mentioned, he has specifically informed that they are sanctioning the communist party officials.
“Today I announced visa restrictions on PRC (Peoples Republic of China) officials involved in restricting foreigners’ access to Tibet. We will continue to seek reciprocity in our relationship,” Pompeo tweeted on Tuesday.

The President of United States of America, Donald Trump in December 2018 signed the Tibet Reciprocal Access bill unanimously passed by the US Congress. The bill was sealed of a law of the country which will ban Chinese from entering US until Tibet opens up to the Americans and the Tibetan Americans.
The Reciprocal Access to Tibet Act has been based on the diplomatic principle of reciprocity, which calls on countries to give equal rights to one another’s citizens. The legislation calls for American diplomats, journalists and ordinary citizens to have equal access to the Tibet Autonomous Region and other Tibetan areas as their Chinese counterparts enjoy in the US.
