The United States on Monday applauded India for hosting the Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama in exile. Coinciding with 85th birthday of the spiritual leader, US in a greeting message on the occasion thanked India for hosting the Dalai Lama. Though the important event could not be held with usual ceremony, people observed the day with great joy!
Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs under the State Department of United States on July 6 tweeted the greeted happy 85th birthday to His Holiness the Dalai Lama. The official twitter handle while explaining how His Holiness inspired the world through his peace and kindness, it thanked India who has hosted the spiritual leader since 1959.

The Tibetan spiritual leader fled from Tibet in 1959 after Chinese forcefully occupied and annexed Tibet and incorporated it has a part of China. With primary support from India, His Holiness the Dalai Lama set up an exile Tibetan administration to carry on the cause. Today he has devolved his complete political role to an elected leadership of the Central Tibetan Administration or the Tibetan Government in Exile based in Dharamshala, India.
