Ukrainians take part in Tibet rally in Taiwan.

Dharamshala, 6th March: According to media sources, Ukrainians in Taiwan expressed their solidarity for a protest march against 63 years of Chinese tyranny in Tibet on Saturday. Since 2004, the Taiwanese have held an annual protest march for Tibet to commemorate the Chinese crushing of the Tibetan uprising in March 1959. The Tibetan uprising against communist China’s government lasted two weeks before being brutally put down.

According to Taiwan News, Ukrainians who attended the march on Saturday drew comparisons between China’s takeover of Tibet and Russia’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine. Yulia Koroleva, a two-year resident of Taiwan, told the demonstrators that the situation in Tibet had not changed after 63 years of occupation and that the Russian war against Ukraine demonstrated that large countries were still willing to disregard and destroy smaller nations.

The demonstration comes amid claims that China is enacting harsh laws and regulations in Tibet in order to suffocate the region’s cultural uniqueness.

In Tibet, a new code of conduct for members of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) expressly prohibits party members from practicing any form of religion in public or private life. According to a story in The Hong Kong Post, the six-point code of conduct is the first party policy that explicitly and fully outlines the exact sorts of religiosity prohibited for party members in Tibet.

Furthermore, a new regulation known as “Measures on the Administration of Internet Religious Informative Services,” which took effect on March 1, prohibits all foreign organizations and individuals from spreading religious content online in China and Tibet unless they have obtained government licenses.
