Dharamshala, 1st July: Yeshi Wangmo, Secretary of the Department of Finance, takes over as the new Secretary of the Tibetan Supreme Justice Commission at a brief handover ceremony held this afternoon at the Tibetan Supreme Justice Commission’s office. Secretary Tashi Gyatso Shadrong, who is stepping down, is succeeded by Secretary Yeshi Wangmo. The oath of office was administered by Chief Justice Commissioner Sonam Norbu Dagpo. Only a few luminaries were present for the brief ceremony, including Chief Justice Commissioner Sonam Norbu Dagpo, Justice Commissioners Karma Dadul and Tenzin Lungtok, and outgoing Supreme Justice Commission Secretary Tashi Gyatso Shadrong.
Yeshi Wangmo’s Biography:
- Yeshi Wangmo was born in Chauntra, Himachal Pradesh, on January 15, 1970.
- She graduated from GCG College in Chandigarh with a Bachelor of Science degree.
- On September 18, 1995, Yeshi Wangmo began working for the Central Tibetan Administration as the Department of Security’s Under-Secretary.
- On February 24, 1999, she was promoted to Deputy Secretary of the Department of Security after three years.
- She was reassigned to the Department of Health on February 8, 2002.
- She was elevated to Joint Secretary of the Department of Health on June 2, 2005.
- From August to December 2009, she worked as a Joint Secretary of the Cabinet Secretariat.
- She was appointed Joint Secretary of the Department of Information and International Relations on December 7, 2009.
- On September 6, 2013, she was elevated to Additional Secretary.
- She was transferred to the Department of Health as its Additional Secretary on July 27, 2016, and has been there for two years.
- She became the Department of Finance’s first female Secretary on October 8, 2018, and has held the job ever since.
- She will become the Secretary of the Tibetan Supreme Justice Commission on July 1, 2021.
