The Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama on the eve of the Tibetan new year told that the truth about Tibet will never be wiped out. His Holiness while speaking to a group of people including a special group of elderly Tibetans, he explained that the truth about Tibet will grow stronger with time. In addition to extending new year greetings, the Tibetan spiritual leader thanked fellow Tibetans for their indomitable spirit in the cause of Tibet.
Office of His Holiness the Dalai Lama published the video of the message from the Tibetan spiritual leader and the following is the complete translation of the message as published.
“To those of you who are actually present here, Tibetans who have reached 90 years of age, and most importantly, to the Tibetans inside Tibet, today, I would like to extend my New Year greetings. To the Tibetans in exile, since you have endeavoured and achieved remarkably well I would like to extend my greetings and say Tashi Delek for the Tibetan New year to you as well.
We six-seven million Tibetans are all subjects of Arya Avalokiteshvara. Nowadays, although it is a difficult time for us, when people around he world speak of Tibet’s religion and culture, they recognize them as being unique and scientific; many take a keen interest in them.
Therefore, our generation has really lived their lives meaningfully with a set purpose. Most importantly, due to the six million Tibetan’s altruism and invincible determination the spirit of unity among the Tibetans in Tibet is very strong.
Looking back at our history, after its emperor Tri Ralpachen was assassinated, Tibet was split into many smaller kingdoms and underwent much difficulty.
However, in our case adversities paved way for something positive, creating a strong sense of unity among the people of the three provinces of Tibet; their spiritual of altruism and determination remain indomitable. This is admirable and to all of you I would like to say thank you for keeping up such strong altruism and determination.
The just cause of Tibet will never be wiped out completely. Truth is something that in time gains momentum and clarity. Those that suppress the truth are the weapons. However, although weapons may be forceful for a short while, their impact does not last very long.
In our struggle for the just cause of Tibet, we are not picking up arms, but we have the power of truth to pursue our just cause. Through this, I would like to ask Tibetans inside Tibet to keep a calm and a happy state of mind. As regards the Tibetans in exile, you have done well so far. Although new generations have evolved, we have really succeeded in preserving Tibetan culture and language, as well as in sustaining our struggle with altruism and indefatigable determination.
Therefore, I would like to thank you all.
Likewise, I also would like to extend my Tashi Delek for the Tibetan New Year. As regards myself, although I am getting older, I am physically very healthy. As I offer prayers to live to one hundred, I think that I will be able to live that long.
I call upon Tibetans all over the world to gather courage and do your best. Although I am now quite old by age, my mind is still very sharp, and I have the ability to talk effortlessly. I will continue to be like this. Do you understand? All of you should live in a happy state of mind.
Thats all for now. Tashi Delek.”
