A Tit-for-Tat ‘Tibet Bill’ Against China Introduced In Trump Administration

Tibet bill has been introduced in both the house of Representatives and the Senate in the United States. The Tibet Bill is being seen as a Tit-for-Tat take on against the Chinese government from the Donald Trump’s US administration according to the report in the Sunday Guardian Live.

“A bill has been introduced in both the House of Representatives and the Senate in the United States of America (USA) seeking unhindered access to Tibetan areas to US officials, journalists and common citizens, something which is routinely denied by the Chinese government.” said the report on Sunday.

The bill called as “The Reciprocal Access to Tibet Act of 2017” has been called in the Senate by Republican Senator Marco Rubio and Democratic Senator Tammy Baldwin, while in the House of Representatives it was introduced by Congressmen Jim McGovern (Democratic) and Randy Hultgren (Republican) according to the report.

The Reciprocal Access to Tibet Act of 2017 says that the Government of China does not grant access to “Government of the People’s Republic of China does not grant United States officials, journalists and other citizens access to China on a basis that is reciprocal to the access that the Government of the United States grants Chinese officials, journalists, and citizens” and China asks for additional permissions to be sought separately for visiting the Tibet Autonomous Region.

The bill instances of the data that out 39 diplomatic access requests from the US, China only accepted four which we strictly monitored! The bill asks the Secretary of State to take into consideration the extend to which China is acknowledging the US requests to China, including the Tibetan areas while obliging to the diplomatic requests from China to US.
