Tibetan Student Awarded Outsanding Achievement at a US University

A young Tibetan student has been awarded with the outstanding achievement honor at a university in the United States. A brilliant student of Tibetan origin have honored with multiple felicitations during a virtual convocation in the US. The most prominent of the awards being the Outstanding MIS Senior conferred upon the Tibetan student.

Karma Choedak, an under graduate student of Management Information Systems at Price College of Business has been awarded the Outstanding MIS Senior by the University of Oklahama this year. Due to lock down imposed in response to the Coronavirus pandemic, the graduation ceremony was virtually conducted by the university.

Karma is one of the hundred and sixty-five students graduating this academic year from the University of Oklahoma by maintaining a perfect 4.0 grade-point averages throughout their undergraduate careers. He is a famous candidate from the university who have won many more awards and accolades for his brilliance during the course of his degree.

Karma Choedak secured the second-place winner in the Technology Innovation Challenge competition, organized by ConocoPhillips. Choedak was the only OU student in this team, and students from universities such as Kansas State, Missouri State, Georgia Tech, and Texas A&M participated in the competition.

A large number of second generation exile Tibetans are growing up in the west. United States has one of the largest number of Tibetan refugees after India. After obtaining the citizenship of the host country, many of them are determined to carry on the legacy of fighting the cause of Tibet issue. Unlike Tibetan refugees living in India, one of the major setbacks faced is the absence of opportunity to learn Tibetan language. However, a consorted effort if being made in terms of weekend classes to teach Tibetan language in the west.
