Tibetan Student Awarded Dr. Abdul Kalam Memorial Gold Medal

A Tibetan student has been awarded the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Memorial Gold Memorial from his university. According to the news updates from Tibet TV’s stringer for South India, the Tibetan student is among the winners of gold medals from the JSS University in Mysore at its 11th convocation held on 11th November this year.

Pema Gyaltsen has secured the highest marks in Master of Science in Environment Science at the JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research in Mysore, South India. The JSS University conferred him with their Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Memorial Gold Medal. He is among 52 gold medal winners of the university at its 11 convocation.

According to the Facebook post by Tibet.net, Pema Gyaltsen was born in Kham Drango, Tibet and pursued his secondary schooling from Tibetan Children’s Village (TCV) school, Chauntra and completed high school from TCV in Bylakuppe. He obtained bachelor’s degree in Environment Science from JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research.

With large number Tibetan children studying at various Indian institutions for the past many decades now, the number of outstanding Tibetan students in India has visibly been increasing. Few Tibetan girls have been also conferred with gold medal from their institutions recently in different fields of studies. The CBSE results for class X and XII students in Tibetan schools has  been outstanding this year as well.
