Tibetan Refugees Aim to Return and Restore Tibet: Dalai Lama

The Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama while interacting with a large audience in Sweden on Wednesday explained that the Tibetan refugees’ aim is to return and restore Tibet. His Holiness after giving a public talk at the Malmo Live on Wednesday, interacted with the audience and answered to their questions.

“We Tibetan refugees have been 60 years in exile, but our ambition is to return and restore Tibet (our country). In exile in India we have worked to educate our children and to keep our language, identity and culture alive with the hope of restoring them in our homeland when conditions allow.” explained His Holiness the Dalai Lama on Wednesday while an audience asked about the large number of refugees coming into Europe.

The Tibetan spiritual explained to an audience of more 1200 people that it is good to offer help in the short term but in the longer term most refugees want to return to the countries they have fled and it is important to restore peace in their countries. His Holiness the Dalai Lama added that the refugees, especially the youth should be given training to rebuild their country.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama on Wednesday briefed a media interaction convened by the Swedish aid organization, IM where His Holiness briefed the media group about the importance engaging in dialogue to resolve differences in order to maintain peace and tranquility in the world today.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama addressed a gathering of more than 1200 people at the Malmo Live after the media briefing. His Holiness talked about his three life commitments, i.e., promotion of human values, inter-religious harmony and the issue of Tibet.
