Tibetan Parliament in Exile Begins its 5th Session

The 16th Tibetan Parliament in Exile begins its 5th session on Wednesday at the Central Tibetan Administration in Dharamshala. The session which is focussed as the budget session began from 9:30 am in the morning and adjourned early by 2:30 pm in order for the parliamentarians to participate in the prayer service for martyr Tsekho.

“The fifth session of the 16th Tibetan Parlaiment-in-Exile from March 14 to March 24 commenced with the Speaker’s session commencement announcement at 9:30 am today.” reported the official website of the Tibetan Parliament in Exile.

“The session began with the Tibetan national anthem in the parliamentary hall, assembled with Speaker of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile and its Deputy Speaker, Sikyong of the Central Tibetan Administration along with his ministerial colleagues as well as the parliamentarians and the observers. It was followed by the Speaker Ven. Khenpo Sonam Tenphel’s session opening speech and the appointment of Acting Speaker and Ad Hoc committee members.” the report added.

During this parliament session, it is being suggested that President Lobsang Sangay is likely to propose the names for the post of ministers of his cabinet as there two departments which being handled as extra portfolios by the present cabinet. The budget session of the parliament will discuss and approve the budget of the various departments and offices under the Central Tibetan Administration, for the financial year 2018 to 2019  and it was laid in the parliament by Finance Minister Mr. Karma Yeshi in the afternoon.
