Tibetan Origin Ranked Among Most Powerful Women in Banking in US

A Tibetan origin in the United States has been ranked among 15 most powerful women in Banking. Tenzin Dasal Alexander, an executive at Columbus Ohio’s bank holding company Huntington Bancshares is one of the 15 business executives highlighted by the ‘Most Powerful Women in Banking: Next list’ of 2020, according the American Banker journal.

Tenzin Alexander is in charge of social media strategy for Huntington, using platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram to build the bank’s brand, bolster its reputation and drive new business. Her work includes overseeing the social care team, which addresses customer comments, and leading the “banker social selling” program for LinkedIn Sales Navigator, which leverages social media to help bankers sell products and services, according to the journal.

The list includes high-achieving women in the leadership pipeline have experience in a wide array of business operations. Besides small businesses, health care and social media — all areas with heightened significance amid the pandemic — they are involved in efforts as varied as anti-money-laundering, digital transformation and auto lending.

Tenzin is a Tibetan American born to immigrant parents from India. She immigrated with her parents to Columbus from India when she was just five years old. Her efforts to give back to society has become a personal mission in her professional career. One of her most significant contributions includes providing transitional housing for men who have been homeless due to mental illness and single mothers ages 18 to 24.

“Tenzin exemplifies smart, tenacious leadership, but also the character, purpose and care representative of an ideal C-suite executive. I expect we’ll see her there someday.” says her nominating executive and Chief marketing and communications officer Julie Tutkovics.
