Tibetan Homes School Wins Regional Football Tournament

The Tibetan Homes School Mussoorie has lifted a prestigious regional football tournament in Dehradun. One of the first Tibetan schools set up in exile has come out victorious in a 10 school teams football tournament in Dehradun region according to the report in the local news agencies on Thursday.

The 15th Alok Ranjan Memorial Football Tournament 2019 that started on July 25 at Oak Grove School with a total of 10 teams from Dehradun and Mussoorie participating. This tournament is organised in the memory of the late Alok Ranjan, who happened to be an upcoming talent in the field of football but, unfortunately, he could not blossom to the fullest due to his untimely death in 2004, according to the Garhwal Post.

The final match was played between St George’s College, Mussoorie, and Tibetan Homes School, Mussoorie. Tibetan Homes School lifted the Trophy by defeating St George’s College, 2-0. According to the post, the first goal of the match was scored by Pema Kunang in the 17th minute and the second goal by Tsering in the 42nd minute. The best player of tournament trophy was also bagged by the winning school while the best goal keeper was awarded to the goal keeper of the runner up school.

The teams participating in the tournament are Oak Grove School team-A, Tibetan Homes School, Summer Valley School, St Clare’s School, and Tula’s International School, pooled into Pool A and the Oak Grove School team-B, Gorkha Military Inter College, The Asian School, St George‘s College, Cambrian Hall pooled into Pool-B.
