Tibetan Boy Bags Silver Medal in All India Essay Writing

A Tibetan boy has bagged a silver medal in an all India essay writing event for 2017, winning the second prize from the state of Uttarakhand in the college level category. The Tibetan boy has participated in this ‘All India Essay Writing Event 2017’ in the category 2, i.e., UG/PG level in English language.

“A proud moment for my family after our younger brother stood second at state level in All India Essay Writing Event. Looking forward to more success.” said an update in the social media from NGAWANG CHOKDUP’s sister along a few pictures of him taken with the winner medals and certificates.

According to the list of the official announcement of the essay writing event’s result, Ngawang Chokdup who is a resident of Dehradun is a first year BCA student at Uttaranchal University in Dehradun. The event is being organised annually at both National Level and State Level in both English and Hindi languages in two categories; Category 1 for school students between class 9 and class 12 while Category 2 for college students pursuing their Undergraduate and Postgraduate degrees.

Topic of essay writing event for Category 1 was “Sometimes the heart sees what is invisible to the eye.” – H. Jackson Brown Jr and the topic for Category 2 was “The greatest enemy of knowledge is not ignorance. It is the illusion of   knowledge.”- Stephen Hawking, with the word limit as 1000.

This prestigious annual event is a collaborative effort of the United Nations Information Centre for India and Bhutan [UNIC], The Heartfulness Institute and Shri Ram Chandra Mission [SRCM] – a non-profit, educational and spiritual service organisation – to celebrate the International Day of Youth observed on the 12th of August every year.
