Young Tibetan journalist Tashi Tobgyal has won the Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism awards in the category of photo journalism (print). The Tibetan youth is one of the winners from 29 winners in 18 categories of their works in journalism in the year 2017.
The Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Awards presided over by the Shri Rajnath Singh, the honourable Home Minister of India presented the winners their awards on Friday in New Delhi.
According to Tobgyal’s social media account, the journalist’s photograph of a 21 year old manual scavenger, Jhony at work in Ghaziabad, UP has been chosen for the RNG Awards in Photojournalism category.
on Wednesday announced the list of winners which included Tashi Topgyal was on an earlier occasion been chosen by the The Press Council of India (PCI) for the 2015 national award for excellence in journalism presented by the then President of India, Shri Pranab Mukerjee on the National Press day on Nov. 16, 2015.
Tashi hails from Sonada, Darjeeling and studied at the St. Joseph North Point School. After his schooling, he joined the Aligarh Muslim University. Tashi is a Special Photographer with The Indian Express.
