TIPA hosts 25th Tibetan Opera Festival Shoton
On Wednesday, TIPA initiated its 25th Tibetan Shoton Festival which celebrates Tibetan Opera from April 6 to 13 here at Dharamshala. Shoton translates to “yogurt banquet” in Tibetan. Tibetan artists perform traditional operas throughout the event, and prominent monasteries showcase enormous Thangkas – Buddha paintings.

The US Ambassador to India on Wednesday visit the Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama at his residence in Dharamsala during his two day visit to the exile Tibetan headquarters. The Ambassador during the visit was accompanied by a four person delegation from their office, the US Embassay, New Delhi.

Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts (TIPA) to promote culture among the among the Monpa according to a statement from the Arunchal Pradesh CM. The CM announced at a felicitation ceremony that the government plans to facilitate TIPA to train Buddhist arts and culture to the Monpa youth to generate interest in their age old culture.
