European Parliament Demands China’s Immediate Release of Tibetan Prisoners
European Parliament on Thursday has demanded the ‘immediate and unconditional’ release of two Tibetans imprisoned by China for exercising their basic human rights. The parliament voted in majority for the resolution calling China to respect the basic human rights such as freedom of speech, religious belief and assembly as guaranteed by its own constitution.

The European Parliament is the only institution of the EU which is directly elected by the people. 751 MEPs represent 28 member states of the EU in proportion to the population of the respective states, making it the second largest democratic electorate body in the world (after India).
