11th June: A South African mother, Gosiame Thamara Sithole,37, has given birth to ten children, setting a new world record. Yes, you heard it right TEN children. Decuplets astounded Gosiame Thamara Sithole’s spouse as tests revealed only eight in the womb. “There are seven boys and three girls in the group. I am content. I’m a sensitive person. I’m afraid I won’t be able to say much “Teboho Tsotetsi, her husband. Ms. Sithole had ten babies, according to a family member who did not want to be recognized, five through normal birth and five by cesarean section, according to the BBC.
Halima Cissé, a 25-year-old Mali woman, gave birth to nine babies last month, all of whom are reportedly doing well in a Moroccan clinic. More
Doctors initially mistook Sithole for having sextuplets, she told the paper, before discovering two additional children in utero developing “in the wrong tube.” Two others are said to have gone undiscovered throughout the pregnancy. Ms. Sithole has six-year-old twins. She is claimed to be in good health after giving birth in Pretoria on Monday evening at the age of 29 weeks into her pregnancy.
Ms. Sithole told that a month ago, her pregnancy had been difficult at first and that she had prayed for a healthy birth, having spent many restless nights wondering about what might happen. Her womb was enlarging, so she asked herself, “In the womb, how would they fit? Are they going to make it? ” but physicians reassured her. Ms. Sithole was experiencing leg pains when physicians discovered that two of the eight fetuses were in the wrong tube when she was assumed to be carrying eight. Her husband expressed his delight and stated he felt like he had won the lottery “God has picked you to be one of his offspring. It’s a miracle, and I’m grateful for it “.
Gauteng government spokesperson Thabo Masebe says they are aware of Ekurhuleni Mayor Mzwandile Masina’s announcement that the Metro has traced the family claiming the birth of ten babies. This follows reports claiming that Gosiame Sithole broke the Guinness World Record at a Pretoria hospital on Monday night when she gave birth to the decuplets. However, Masebe says they’ve conducted a thorough search of public and private healthcare facilities and no records were captured proving the veracity of the reports of ten babies being born to a mother.
