A young Tibetan rural boy has become the internet sensation for his good looks and it is very inspiring. A young Tibetan who pictures have been posted by a blogger on the social media instantly gained large fan following from China. According to the local reports, his fame on the internet has even landed a job for promoting his county tourism.
Tamdrin, 20, became famous unexpectedly after a photographer posted a video of him on Douyin, the domestic version of the TikTok short-video platform, in which he wore a traditional Tibetan costume and smiled in front of the camera, according to the Asia One news. Soon after becoming famous, his first social media post gained 14 million views and 1.8 million followers in one day.
Although it is very early to tell how he well his fame will pay off in the long run, his instant sensation has already landed him a job to promote local tourism. He has been hired on a $715 monthly salary to promote the tourism of Litang county and Garze Tibetan autonomous prefecture reported the agency.
With such naïve and innocent youngster gaining instant fame, fans while admiring his pure lifestyle and charming looks, many are expressing concerns over his well being. Some fans fear that the young man might be taken advantage of for financial gains by others. With prevalence of highly organized fan clubs culture in China, his personal life could become a trouble.
The Deputy manager of the Lithang county’s culture, tourism and sports investment development company has clarified that Tamdrin will get a monthly salary of 3,500 yuan ($715) as well as insurance and subsidies. He added that they’ll check the qualifications of the companies that want to cooperate with him to prevent him from being cheated and no bite of the income or the presents he receives shall be taken by them.
