The Tribune News services published an article today suggesting that the Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama could be headed on a private visit to China. However, the officials from the Central Tibetan Administration informed the public over the social media that the article was misunderstood message by the reporter and not true.
“Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai lama could possible head to China on a private visit, the Sikyong (head) of the elected Central Tibetan Administration confirmed today. He however warn “Don’t read too much into it. At most its a private visit and its too early to say anything.” said the report which suggested that the Dalai Lama is possibly heading on a private visit to China with an article titled, ‘Dalai Lama headed to China on pot visit?’.
However, the official Facebook page of the Tibet.net, the official website of Central Tibetan Administration clarified on the social media saying that the reporter has mistaken the answer from President Lobsang Sangay in New Delhi.
“WRONG QUOTE/HEADLINE President Dr Lobsang Sangay was asked about Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche’s reported visit to China and the reporter Ajay Banerjee mistook it for His Holiness the Dalai Lama. We have written to Tribune to publish a corrigendum.” said the post in its page sharing the article from the Tribune.
Fortunately, the reputed news service updated the report with new title, ‘Former Tibetan government head visited China recently’ where it corrected that the Tibetan president was answering about the report about Professor Samdhong Rinpoche, former political head of Tibetans’ visit to China.
“The Sikyong (head) of the elected Central Tibetan Administration, Dr Lobsang Sangay, in New Delhi confirmed that his predecessor Prof Samdhang Rimpoche did visit China recently.” the article said.
However, the article was greatly welcomed by many just before it got corrected as the Tibetans and the supporters are really looking forward to the Chinese authorities start a dialogue with the Tibetan leaders, especially His Holiness the Dalai Lama to find a solution to the Tibet cause after more than 60 years period of Tibetans in exile after China invaded Tibet in 1959.
