President of Central Tibetan Administration Dr. Lobsang Sangay makes first visit to new US administration on Tuesday. The President on visiting the new US administration, talked about the issues concerning Tibet, Sina-Tibetan dialogue and the current situation inside Tibet.
“Honorable President of Central Tibetan Administration met with Senator Mike Lee from Utah and Senator Orrin Hatch, President pro tempore and the senior most republican senator from Utah in the morning of May 23, 2017 at the capitol building. He briefed them about all range of issues concerning Tibet including current situation in Tibet and Sino-Tibetan dialogue. The senators expressed their high regard for His Holiness the Dalai Lama and exhibited grave concern on the current situation inside Tibet and promised to extend all support.” said the report in the official website of Central Tibetan Administration.
According to the report, the President of CTA met with other prominent leaders in the afternoon and had very fruitful discussions with them.
“In the evening, International Campaign for Tibet hosted a dinner reception in Honor of the President. This dinner reception was attended by a hundred plus Tibetans and Tibet supporters including prominent personalities like Congressman Jim McGovern and Mr. Keith Harper, former US Ambassador to the UN.” added the report.
Dr. Sangay reached United States on 22nd May and he will be in the country on official tour till 25th May. He will return to the seat of Central Tibetan Administration, Dharamsala on 27th May.
This is the first visit to the US for the former Harvard Professor since his official inauguration to the second term as the President of Central Tibetan Administration following his victory in the election last year and the inauguration of the new US administration under President Donald Trump.
