Penpa Tsering Hands Over The Office of Tibet To New Representative

Penpa Tsering hands over the office of Tibet, Washington D.C. to new representative said the official report in the website of Central Tibetan Administration today. The office hand over as directed by the Kashag decision on November 6 took place for three days from November 28 to November 30 and the new representative will assume the office from today.

“The Handing over of charge between outgoing representative of Office of Tibet, Washington DC, Penpa Tsering and the incoming representative Ngodup Tsering concluded successfully today. The handing over ceremony took place in the presence of Representative of South America Tsewang Phuntsok, who was appointed to oversee the handing and taking over of the Office.” said the official report in website of Central Tibetan Administration.

“The three-day handing over process, which began from 28 November, has been very sucessfully conducted and organised by the staff and outgoing Representative. I would like to thank all of you,” said new Representative of Office of Tibet, Washington DC according to the official report.

The Kashag on November 7 appointed the Education Kalon Ngodup Tsering as the new Representative of North America based in Washington DC. The Kashag cited the appointment as per Chapter 1 Article 1(3) of the Tibetan Charter and Article 19(1) of the Tibetan Public Service Commission rules and regulations. It expressed its dissatisfaction from the performance of the former speaker as the North America representative in his tenure of one year and two months that led to his ousting.

Many supporters of the former speaker staged protests against the decision demanding an independent committee to probe against the allegations made by the Kashag. Despite the public is divided over the decision, the hand over has completed successfully and the new representative has assumed the office from today and we wish him all the best!
