Only CNG and electric vehicles will be allowed into Delhi From November 27th.

Dharamshala, 25th November: In an effort to prevent the city’s air quality from deteriorating further, the Delhi government announced on Wednesday that starting November 27, only CNG and electric vehicles will be permitted to enter the city. The rest of the vehicles would be prohibited from entering until December 3, according to state environment minister Gopal Rai. He also stated that all schools, universities, and educational institutions in the national capital will resume on November 29.

Rai further stated that all government offices in Delhi will operate on November 29. The crew has been instructed to take public transportation by the environment minister. He stated that special buses would be dispatched for them.

This comes after the Supreme Court stated earlier in the day that the national capital’s air quality situation necessitates a scientific investigation. The court also recommended using a statistically-based model of wind patterns to take proactive efforts to reduce air pollution in Delhi-NCR before it worsens. The Chief Justice of India, NV Ramana, together with Justices DY Chandrachud and Surya Kant, remarked that immediate action is required to address Delhi’s air quality crisis. It was discovered that governments only take action to manage weather when it becomes severe.

It asked the Centre and state governments to keep the measures currently proposed to combat air pollution in place for a few more days, saying that if the pollution level reaches 100, some limitations can be relaxed in the meantime.

To combat rising levels of air pollution in the national capital, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal ordered a ‘pollution lockdown’ on November 13th, in which schools were closed for physical education lessons for a week. Classes, on the other hand, remained to be delivered via the internet. The Delhi administration had lifted the restriction on building and demolition operations earlier on Monday due to improved air quality.

According to the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research, the air quality in the national capital improved dramatically on Wednesday, moving from “extremely poor” to “poor” for the first time in the last ten days (SAFAR). The Air Quality Index (AQI) for the entire city was 280.
