Following the bomb scare in Bodh Gaya where the Tibetan spiritual leader is presently staying on a month long visit, the officials have affirmed that there is no threat to His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s security. The secretary of Department of Security, Central Tibetan Administration and Bihar police have assured this according to news reports.
The Secretary of Department of Security, CTA, Karma Rinchen while confirming the reports of police having found two bombs planted very close to the Tibetan Temple in Bodh Gaya where the Tibetan spiritual leader is residing, he has also informed through Voice of Tibet report that the bombs were not targeted at His Holiness’s security and there is no need for people to worry about his security now.
Inspector-general Nayyar Hasnain Khan too told that he has reviewed the Dalai Lama’s security and deputed two additional superintendent of police-rank officers and two DSP-rank officers for his security. The Gaya city superintendent of police has been assigned to monitor the Dalai Lama’s security.
Three low-intensity bombs have been planted amid heavy security shield of the spiritual leader and one of the bombs had exploded on late Friday evening, following which the two others were discovered before explosion. The first blast was initially mistaken for a fire cracker, police launched combing search of the entire campus in precaution. The two bombs planted were immediately taken to a remote place and diffused later.
In addition to His Holiness the Dalai Lama, other high profile people like Governor of Bihar, CM of Bihar, Hollywood actor Richard Gere have also been visiting the place. Thousands of devotees from around the world were present in Bodh Gaya to seek His Holiness’s teachings and officials also informed that the bombs were intended to create panic among public.
