My Wish is to Take the Last Breath in India Itself: Dalai Lama

The Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama in an exclusive interview with the Hindi daily, Amar Ujala has expressed his wish to take the last breath in India itself. During the interview that last about 1 hour and 40 minutes, His Holiness talked about terrorism, the issue of his reincarnation, etc.

When Amar Ujala’s correspondent Sunil Chadha asked about the Pulwama terror attacts, His Holiness the Dalai Lama explained that like the United States could not eliminate terrorism by waging wars in the regions like Afghanistan, the better way is to adopt the path of peace through talks.

The Tibetan spiritual leader reiterated that whether the next Dalai Lama will or not, it is to decide by the people of Tibet. His Holiness added that the issue of future Dalai Lama will be discussed this year through a meeting organized by Central Tibetan Administration and the religious leaders. He also made it clear that it is not a subject of his concern as his life devoted to the people.

During the interview at His Holiness’s residence in Dharamshala, His Holiness told there were no formal contacts with Beijing government since 2002 but personally some retired officers and businessmen from China visit him in exile.

The Tibetan spiritual leader also explained that after fleeing into exile, he got the opportunity to meet many intellectuals and added that the 14th Dalai Lama is very modern! In addition to that, His Holiness said that besides his three commitments, he will try to transmit the ancient Indian knowledge to the world over the next 10 years.
