Meet First Tibetan TV Producer Winning Emmy Awards

Earlier this year, Tibetan TV producer Tenzin Wangmo Shakya was awarded the prestigious Daytime Emmy Awards during the 69th Emmy Awards. Tenzin Wangmo is the first ever Tibetan to have been honoured with such a prestigious award in the field of journalism and entertainment.

Tenzin Wangmo and her colleagues have been awarded the Daytime Emmy Awards for the year 2017. She is working as a producer Good Morning America, a TV show aired on ABC Network. She has previously been nominated for the award several times according to the sources.

“Tenzin Shakya is a first generation Tibetan-American Journalist/Producer with ABC News in NYC. Shakya graduated from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism with a Masters in Broadcast Journalism. She’s been producing stories for six years in both private and non-profit publications. Before story-telling, she was a media associate at Rethink Media; a nonprofit organization working to shift the public discussion on issues related to peace and security, national security, and human rights. She was a former breaking news correspondent at the San Mateo County Times and The Oakland Tribune. Her work has been published in San Jose Mercury News, Contra Costa Times, Oakland Tribune, UptownRadio.org, Northattan, PBS Thirteen.org, ABC News and various other online media sites.” said the description of her profile in the personal website.

Tenzin Wangmo is the first ever Tibetan to win such a prestigious award in this field.
