Debutant bollywood filmmaker Danish Iqbal is making a film titled ‘Majnu-Ka-Tilla’, which be staring Imran Zahid in the lead. The movie is proposed in the wake of the fact that the Tibetans who sought refugee and survived in India for more than half century years in year, keeping their fight for Tibet alive in India has not received wide recognition in India itself. The makers of the film therefore intends to bring the Tibetan movement to the mass audience of Indian cinema.
Majnu-Ka-Tilla is the proposed title of the film which is adapted from the name of the Tibetan colony in New Delhi and the film revolves around a love story between a millionaire Indian college student in Delhi and a Tibetan girl, who shows Imran Zahid, the boy the plight of the Tibetan struggle.
Bollywood tycoon director, producer Mahesh Bhatt has also joined the crew as creative director for the film. “The issue of Tibetan people, who have found home here in India is not known to many, especially the youth so it is important for us to bring the people of India closer to the journey of Tibetans who are now a part of our life through a simple, moving and interesting love story ” Mahesh Bhatt told in an interview.
The makers said that they will make the film through mass funding and they have already received lots of support from various spheres of profession and nationalities. Former Indian Football Captain, Baichung Bhutia has publicly expressed his unconditional support in monetary as well as personal resources and he said that would even work in the film is necessary. Mr. Bhutia has been a strong supporter of Tibetans and he even refused to run the Olympic torch for 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Besides celebrities like Mr. Bhutia and singer Zuben Garg, the makers said that they are receiving support from so many Tibetans from across the world.
The film is scheduled to start the shooting from December 2015.
