India is a Perfect Example of Religious Tolerance for the World: Dalai Lama

The Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama during his visit Mathura said that India is a perfect example of religious tolerance for the world. His Holiness is on a three day visit to the Shri Udasin Karshni Ashram in Mathura, where Swami Karshni Gurusharanandaji Maharaj is hosting him at the ashram.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama traveled by road from New Delhi in the early morning of Sunday to the city of Mathura. On arrival at Shri Udasin Karshni Ashram he was received by ashram staff and escorted to his room, where Swami Karshni Gurusharanandaji Maharaj joined him. During his address at the welcome ceremony, His Holiness explained that people following different religious traditions live together peacefully with respect to each other in India, the world must learn from it.

“In India different religious traditions are followed and people live together with due respect to each other and the world should learn from it.” said the Tibetan spiritual leader on Sunday according to the Times of India, “We need to spread Karuna and ahinsa not to preserve our own traditions, but also to bring peace across the world, as too much violence is happening around the world,” adding that there is need for peace.

His Holiness joined Maharaj-ji and the monks of the ashram sitting on the floor for lunch. Ashram students chanted beautiful verses during the meal that was served in traditional fashion on leaves and in earthenware bowls.

According to the report in the website of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s office, His Holiness briefly discussed the next day’s program with Maharaj-ji after lunch and in the course of that, he expressed a hope that they could spend some time in the morning meditating together.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama will interact with noted saints and head of Karshni Ashram Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Karshni Gurusharnanad Maharaj on today, according to the itinerary.
