His Holiness Dalai Lama Begins 3 Days Teaching in Dharamsala

The Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama has begun three days teaching in Dharamshala on Friday morning. His Holiness’s teachings has been organized at the request of the Russian devotees and more than one thousand people from Russia has arrived to attend the teachings.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama initiated the three-day teaching on “Tsongkhapa’s The Three Principal Paths (lamtso namsum) & The Furthest Everlasting Continuum” at the main temple in Mcleod Ganj, Dharamshala today. While His Holiness gave these teachings earlier in Delhi and Riga, Latvia, due to recent health issue concerning the Tibetan spiritual leader, the teaching was organized in Dharamshala.

According to the report by the official website of Central Tibetan Administration, His Holiness the Dalai Lama mentioned how Buddhism originated from India to Tibet and from Tibet to Mongolia. His Holiness further mentioned how the 33rd king of Tibet, Songtsen Gampo after marrying the princess of China, brought back a Buddha statue to Tibet and where began Buddhism in Tibet.

He explained how the Buddhism of Tibet derives almost wholly from the tradition of Nalanda University. He spoke of the great abbot Shantarakshita’s coming to Tibet at the invitation of the Tibetan Emperor Trisong Dhetsen and his establishment of monastic ordination, the translation of Buddhist scriptures and the study of Buddhism, it added.

His Holiness further urged the audience to experiment Buddhism through logic rather than simply praying blindly. “Just as a goldsmith would test the gold by burning, cutting and rubbing it”, His Holiness encouraged to experiment and analyze Buddhisms.

The Tibetan spiritual leader carried out the teachings from 8 in the morning and wrapped the day at 11 to resume further tomorrow. There were around 1100 people from Russia and 5195 people from 70 different countries and more than 2000 Tibetan people attending the teaching today.
