Government has launched a new ‘BH’ registration enabling seamless car transfers across India.

Dharamshala, 29th August: The government has announced a number of IT-based vehicle registration options, including the adoption of a new Bharat series registration mark for new vehicles (BH-series). When the owner moves from one state to another, vehicles with the BH mark will not require a new registration mark.

Currently, a car owner can retain their vehicle in any state other than the one where it is registered for no more than 12 months. To do so, a new registration is necessary, which must be completed within a 12-month period.

Furthermore, the time-consuming process of registering the vehicle necessitates the submission of documents such as a No Objection Certificate from the parent state, the assignment of a new registration mark after pro-rata payment of road tax, and the request for a refund of road tax from the parent state.

The notice from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MORTH) stated, “This scheme will facilitate free movement of personal vehicles across states and union territories of India upon relocation to a new state/ union territory.”
