Three suspects has been detained in Bihar’s town of Gaya for their alleged links to the explosion of a low intensity bombing and subsequent the recovery of two more live bombs at His Holiness the Dalai Lama camp where he was stationed last month. The three suspects have been detained for their alleged links to certain terror groups.
“The three men were picked up from different locations in Marufganj area under Kotwali police station, said sources. They were taken into custody and interrogated for possible connection with the recovery of crude bombs near the Kalchakra grounds at Bodh Gaya last month and the activities of 2008 Ahmedabad blasts Tausif Alam, who was arrested in Gaya in September 2017.” said the report in the New Indian Express on Sunday.
Mohammad Anwar alias Munna Mistree the first suspect to be detained at the inputs from Central investigative agencies, led to the arrest of the two others, Mohammed Shad and Mohammed Shami from Marufganj area in Gaya district. Though there were protests against the arrest from their parents and neighbours, the police discovered that one has links to Harkat-ul-Mujahideen (HUM), a Pakistan-based Islamic militant group, while another carried online money transfer to account outside India and the third possessed a pistol.
“One suspect was detained after we received inputs from central investigation agencies. Based on the facts that emerged from his interrogation, the two other men were picked up. A pistol was recovered from one of the three,” said Gaya SSP Garima Malik.
The NIA is now probing the suspects for their links to the serious security breach in the holy place of Bodh Gaya during the spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s stay there on January 19, where thousands of foreign pilgrims were also gathered to attend his sermons.
