Dharamshala is building up a skyway to cater the growing number tourists to the home town of the Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama and the station in Mcleod Ganj is being design with pure Tibetan characteristics. The skyway is a connecting Mcleod Ganj with the lower Dharamshala to ease the road traffic increasing every day.
“The project will be developing two skyway stations of which one will be at the lower Dharamshala while the other will be built at McLeod Ganj. Since McLeod Ganj being the home to the Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama and many Tibetans, the Skyway station in McLeod Ganj will be developed in Tibetan characteristics according to the initial drawings.” said the report in Tibet Times on Thursday.
The state tourism department has signed the project contract with Indian corporate giant TATA to implement the Dharamshala SkyWay which is being executed as a part of the smart city development of Dharamshala. According to the report, the Skyway is expected to be completed by early next year.
The rail network transport has several benefits. Apart from it easing the traffic load in the narrow roads of the hilly town, the Skyway is pollution free, accident free transport system which is also safe during floods or earth quakes. Especially, the transport system is very cheap for the commuters.
