Death Threats Against Chemi Lhamo Were Organized by Chinese Diplomats in Canada

According to a revelation by an Canadian Intelligence consultant, the death threats against the pro-Tibet student leader likely originated from the Chinese diplomats in Canada. Tibetan origin student was targeted with threats and abuse on the internet after getting elected as student union president in Canada.

The report in Free Tibet reveals that a consultant to the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS), the death threats against the Tibetan origin student leader, Chemi Lhamo, originated from Chinese diplomats in the country.

“Death threats and abuse targeted at a pro-Tibetan university student in Toronto likely originated from Chinese diplomats in Canada, a consultant to the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS).” said the report as published on Thursday.

22 year old Tibetan Canadian came victorious in the University of Toronto’s Scarborough campus (UTSC) Student Union election. Despite the fact that she won the fair elections of the campus to become the President of the Students Union, Chinese students have been abusing her online for her engagements with Free Tibet campaigns.

Following unprecedented abuse against Tibetan origin Canadian, online by the Chinese Students, involving death threats against her, the Toronto police took up the matter to probe for Chinese government interference in the country.

Besides threatening messages, the police is reviewing around 15,000 different posts in various languages against Lhamo.
