Dalai Lama Will Grace Amaravati Buddhist Heritage Festival

The Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama will grace the Amaravati Buddhist Heritage Festival in the beginning of next month according to the news reports. The Buddhist conclave which is scheduled to in the beginning of February, the Tourism minister of Andhra Pradesh confirmed that the Tibetan spiritual leader will attend the religious festival.

“Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama will be attending the Buddhist Heritage festival to be hosted by the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Authority in Vijayawada.” said Tourism Minister Bhuma Akhila Priya Reddy said on Wednesday while holding a review meeting with the officials according to the New Indian Express.

According to the report, Vijayawada will be creating a world record by orchestrating global chant for world peace with around 1,000 monks during Amaravati Buddhist Conclave scheduled between February 3 to 5 this year.

“The three-day festival will see the monks, students, bureaucrats and politicians participating in the festival. Also, a heritage walk, performance by Shaolin monks of China and cultural programmes by artistes will also be arranged.” added the tourism minister.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama who is presently stationed at Bodh Gaya have already completed three series teachings for thousands of devotees gathered there from around the world. While His Holiness is scheduled to remain there till February 2, the spiritual leader will also be delivering a public talk specially for the students on Universal Ethics in Education on Thursday.
