The Dalai Lama Trust has donated Personal Protective Equipment Kits to the local hospital in Dharamshala. During the pandemic, hospitals have been facing shortage of critical equipments. With the vulnerability of catching coronavirus infection, medical staff across the world have been requesting for sufficient protective equipments.
Dalai Lama Trust on Tuesday delivered a donation of 500 PPE Kits to Tanda Hospital in Kangra. While the pandemic has caused a huge shortage of medical equipments, the contribution has come as a need of the hour. Besides, protective equipments such as masks and PPEs are very difficult to find for purchase due to demand.
The Tibetan spiritual leader has earlier showed support and solidarity by donating to India’s PM CARES Fund. In addition to that, the staff members of the Dalai Lama Trust pledged to donate one day’s salary as well. His Holiness in a written letter to Prime Minister Modi applauded India’s leadership in fighting the coronavirus pandemic.
His Holiness has expressed his gratitude to the medical staff who are on the frontline in the fight against the Coronvirus. In a special message from His Holiness, he also applauded the concerted efforts of nations with special reference to India in trying to limit the threat from the virus.
In addition to that, the Buddhist spiritual leader advised to take solace from a particular teaching that helps in dealing with the anxiety and fear from coronavirus outbreak. He also assured his prayers for an early end to the pandemic and restoration of peace and happiness.
As the spread of the Chinese origin health outbreak is not slowing down, India is taking stricter measures to curb it. There are 74K confirmed coronavirus infections with 2.4K casualties in the country till now. The outbreak has reported almost 4.28 million confirmed cases with more than 292K casualties worldwide.
The Dalai Lama Trust, India was founded in 2003 by His Holiness the XIVth Dalai Lama. The Trust was established to support the activities for advancement and welfare of the people in general and Tibetans in particular by funding and providing financial support through grants and donations. It also provides help in preservation and promotion of the rich culture and unique heritage of the ancient civilization of Tibet in its many facets.
