The Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama tops billboard charts with debut music album. The 42 minute long sacred music album featuring mantras and teachings of the world renowned spiritual leader has come out during a time crisis. People are using the unique music to seek peace and inspiration in combating the adverse real world condition.
The Dalai Lama – “Inner World” is a sacred offering of mantras and teachings from the spiritual leader set to music. The album was set out on July 6th this year in the honor of His Holiness’ 85th Birthday. With this, the spiritual leader who is well known around the world as messenger of peace and compassion has now made his presence on the billboard charts as well.
“The album debuts at No. 1 on the New Age Albums chart (dated July 18) and No. 8 on World Albums with 2,000 equivalent album units earned in the U.S. in the week ending July 9, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data. About half of that sum is via album sales, as the set concurrently debuts at No. 98 on the all-genre Album Sales chart.” according to Tenzin Choejor’s report in Billboard.
Inner Word began in 2015, when one of the project’s co-executive producers and a longtime student of The Dalai Lama, Junelle Kunin, wrote to him requesting his participation, by fervently explaining her feelings that an album by such a compassionate and wise being would help people particularly who struggle with emotional stress.
Net proceeds from the sales of “Inner World” will go to The Gaden Phodrang Foundation of the Dalai Lama (Switzerland) chosen programs: Social, Emotional and Ethical Learning (SEE Learning), an international K-12 education program and part of an academic collaboration between Emory University and His Holiness; and Mind & Life Institute, which brings science & contemplative wisdom together to better understand the mind & create positive change in the world.
