Dalai Lama Tells 10th Panchen Lama Death Irreplaceable Loss for Tibet

With the approaching 30th death anniversary of the 10th Panchen Lama in January, the Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama in a 5 minute video message tribute to the 10th Panchen Lama, he told that the death of 10th Panchen Lama is an irreplaceable loss for Tibet.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama delivered a video statement to remember the immeasurable contributions to the Buddha Dharma and Tibet at the request of North America Committee for the observation of Thank you 10th Panchen Lama year as it is his 30th death anniversary on January 2019.

“Rinpoche’s devotion and service towards the Tibetan people and religion remained intact despite facing hardships for many years. Had he lived longer, I am certain that it would have been truly beneficial. His passing away will remain an irreplaceable loss for Tibet.” said His Holiness the Dalai Lama in the five minute video message release on Friday.

Tashi Lhunpo monastery based in Karnataka, India organised a prayer ceremony at the Mahabodhi Temple in Bodh Gaya on Friday to commemorate 30th death anniversary of the 10th Panchen Lama.

The ceremony was presided over by Ganden Tripa, the 42nd Kyabgon Gongma Trizin and Ganden Trisur Rinpoche among other high lamas.

The Panchen Lama is considered to be one of the most revered religious leaders of Tibet. His Holiness the Dalai Lamas and Panchen Lamas share a special spiritual relationship and are referred to as the ‘Sun and the Moon’ in the Tibetan Buddhist spiritual firmament.
