Dalai Lama Scheduled to Visit Switzerland in September

The Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama is now scheduled to make a visit to the European nation Switzerland for a four program later this year in September. According to the official website of the Tibetan community in Swiss, His Holiness will be gracing the 50th anniversary of Tibet Institute in Rikon.

“In 2018, the Tibet Institute Rikon will reach the age of fifty. We are very grateful for the fact that His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama has accepted our invitation and will actively participate in various events that will be held in Rikon, Winterthur and Zürich from September 21 through September 24, 2018.” said the official website of the Tibet Institute in Rikon.

The four day program schedule includes a religious ceremony with H.H. the Dalai Lama to celebrate the 50 years jubilee of the monastery on Friday, 21.09.2018 between 10.00 a.m. to 12.00 noon that includes a Long life prayer and Mandala offering for H.H. the Dalai Lama.

Official Function with H.H. the Dalai Lama to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Tibet Institute will be held on Saturday, 22.09.2018, which is scheduled to begin from around 9:30 am local time and conclude by 3:00 pm local time. A teaching from the Tibetan spiritual leader on three of his favorite texts will be given on Monday, 23.09.2018 in the morning session organized by Tibetan Community in Switzerland & Liechtenstein and Tibet Institute Rikon.

On the last day of the program schedule, His Holiness will participate in a symposium “Universal Human Values and Education“ where he will discuss with students and employees of the Zurich University of Applied Sciences ZHAW. This visit is the only confirmed foreign visit schedule for the Nobel Laureate as of now for the upcoming year.

Switzerland is reportedly hosting more than 7500 Tibetan refugees, the largest Tibetan community in Europe and the Tibet Institute is situated in the Valley of the Töss, more precisely in Rikon (Canton of Zürich). It was founded in the nineteensixties, based on a suggestion of His Holiness the 14. Dalai Lama, who also became the monastery’s patron. The Tibetan spiritual leader’s last visit to the country was in October 2016 as part of a European trip.
