Dalai Lama Says Sorry if his Remark on Nehru was Wrong

The Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama on Friday told at the media interaction that he would like to apologise if his recent remark on Jawaharlal Nehru was something wrong. The Tibetan spiritual leader was gracing the ‘Thank You Karnataka’ event at the Taj Hotel in Bengaluru along with CM H. D. Kumaraswamy.

The Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama while speaking at the interactive session at the Goa Institute of Management on Wednesday suggested that had Nehru accepted Gandhi’s decision to offer independent India’s Prime Minister-ship to Jinnah, partition of India and Pakistan could have been avoided. Ex-minister and Congress spokesperson Manish Tewari responded by saying that the statement was historically incorrect.

Tibetan spiritual leader while explaining to the students of Goa Institute of Management on dealing with your emotions to ensure that you don’t make a wrong decision he gave Nehru as example in that context besides affirming that Nehru who he knew very well personally was a very well-experienced person.

However, since there was some uneasy reaction to the statement from different people, His Holiness the Dalai Lama acknowledged that his statement has created controversy and he would like to apologise if he said something wrong.



“Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama on Friday apologised for his controversial statement on Jinnah-Jawaharlal Nehru. Talking to news agency ANI, Dalai Lama said, “My statement has created controversy if I said something wrong I apologise.” told His Holiness the Dalai Lama to the media this morning.
