Dalai Lama Meets Foreigners Visiting Dharamshala

The Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama made a special meeting with the foreigners visiting Dharamshala, the exile home for His Holiness in India on Monday morning. His Holiness upon meeting them also spoke to the visitors briefly and held an interactive session with them.

According to the report in Voice of Tibet, there were around a group of 600 foreigners at the meeting and the Tibetan spiritual leader called for his first life commitment, i.e., promotion of human values by calling for the sense of oneness of humanity.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama upon arriving at the court of the Main Temple in McLeod Ganj greeted the visitors who were gathered in groups of their regional origin and took group pictures along with those groups. Upon greeting all the groups, His Holiness sat down to speak to visitors.

His Holiness explained that he had noticed that a large number foreigners were present at the gathering the other day and therefore organised this meeting for them. He explained that since he is not able make long distance journeys as often now, it was his responsibility to greet those who had come to meet him from far away. His Holiness also cracked a joke that the group picture was to show his smile!

The second commitment of the Tibetan spiritual leader is as he explains; as a Buddhist practitioner, he is commitment at the promotion of religious harmony and the third commitment, as a Tibetan, preserving Tibetan language and culture as well as the protection of Tibet’s natural environment. Recently His Holiness has announced that he will also be committed at reviving awareness of the value of ancient Indian knowledge among young Indians today.
