Dalai Lama Launches Course on Revival of Ancient Indian Knowledge

The Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama has launched the short term course on Revival of Ancient Indian Knowledge and Tradition earlier this year. The team of faculty from the Government College in Dharamshala has visited the Tibetan spiritual leader at his residence on Monday, seek blessings on the newly introduced course.

A team of four faculty members from the Dharamshala Government College visited His Holiness the Dalai Lama on Monday to seek blessings and guidance on the six month course on ‘Revival of Ancient Indian Knowledge and Tradition’, newly introduced in the curriculum of the local college. His Holiness commended that the ancient Indian knowledge is one of the best remedies to tackle negative emotions.

“His Holiness mentioned that most of the problems facing the world today are essentially created by human beings. His Holiness denoted that more often than not humans are prone to use their gifted intelligence in the wrong manner paving way for the disposal of destructive emotions when in actuality humans are exceptionally capable to think globally for the long run.” explained the report by Central Tibetan Administration.

“This capacity and potential of humans to think globally for the long run are often limited by the overwhelming destructive emotions”, asserted His Holiness the Dalai Lama, “Only this country can combine modern education with the ancient Indian knowledge to tackle destructive emotions”.

His Holiness in the recent past has asserted his commitment to reviving awareness of the value of ancient Indian knowledge among young Indians today. His Holiness explains that the rich ancient Indian understanding of the workings of the mind and emotions, as well as the techniques of mental training, such as meditation, developed by Indian traditions, are of great relevance today. Since India has a long history of logic and reasoning, he is confident that its ancient knowledge, viewed from a secular, academic perspective, can be combined with modern education.
