Dharamshala, 8th July: According to an exclusive report by India Today, the Dalai Lama is expected to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi following the stabilization of the Covid-19 outbreak in the country. Once the leader-in-exile enters the national capital, New Delhi will decide on the specifics of the proposed meeting.
“I aim to give the Honourable Prime Minister [PM Modi] a courtesy call to thank him for whatever India has done for us. However, we do have alternative options for engaging the Indian government,” the Dalai Lama said in a statement reported in the journal. In the report, his holiness was also reported as saying, “We will also be addressing the world community and other countries, including the United States, on the issue of Tibet.” This comes after PM Modi said on Twitter that he wished the famed spiritual master a happy 86th birthday on July 6th.
On the other hand, the spiritual leader has voiced his wish to return to Tibet, where he was born, and he has stated that the Tibetan administration expects to cooperate with China to find a quick resolution to the dispute between the two governments.
His Holiness has even expressed gratitude to India, adding that he has taken full advantage of the country’s religious tolerance and freedom. “I believe I am the Indian government’s longest-serving guest,” the well-known figure added.
