As the Tibetan New Year or more popularly known as the LOSAR in Tibetan approaches, greetings from important personalities start pouring in on the internet. From the Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama to the Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Shri Jai Ram Thakur, new year greetings messages are going viral on the social media.
His Holiness the Dalai Lama in a posted on the official Facebook page extended his greetings to the Tibetan people for the Losar on Monday while speaking to a group of elderly Tibetans all above the age of 90. During the special audience, His Holiness while acknowledging the committed struggle of Tibetans both inside and outside Tibet after Chinese annexation, the truth about Tibet will prevail. Thus the Tibetan spiritual leader also reiterated his good health and conveyed his greetings of the new year.
In addition to the Tibetan spiritual leader, Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, the host of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in India through a dedicated video message conveyed his greetings to all the Tibetans on the special occasion. Besides the CM, President of Central Tibetan Administration and the Speaker of the Tibetan Parliament in Exile, Dharamsala also shared their new greetings to the Tibetan people through dedicated video messages.
Besides, the distinguished leaders, Tibetan leaders across the world also extended their greetings on the new year. The Tibetan new year, i.e., the Earth Pig Year 2146 begins from the 5th of February and the first three days of the new year are officially celebrated as part of the occasion. However, Tibetan communities both inside and outside Tibetan more commonly maintain a festive period for the first fifteen days of the new year as part of the occasion. While celebrations and entertainments are the mood of the occasion, visiting monasteries, making offerings and prayers are most vital past of the occasion for the Tibetans.
