“We first met in 1978 when Richard Blum, her husband, brought her to Dharamsala,” the Dalai Lama recounted in his letter, reflecting on their initial encounter. Since then, he noted, he had received Senator Feinstein’s unwavering support, starting from his inaugural visit to the United States in 1979 and through various initiatives that led to the institutionalization of American support for Tibet.
