Dalai Lama Confers Hayagriva Initiation In Bylakuppe

His Holiness the Dalai Lama conferred Hayagriva initiation at the Sera Jey monastery in Tibetan Settlement, Bylakuppe this morning. His Holiness conferred the religious ceremony to an audience of a more than 10000 people at the Tibetan settlement which began at the early hour of 7:30 in the morning at the courtyard of the monastery.

“I was here at initial stage when Tibetan use tent to stay here. The then Chief Minister of Karnataka was so dear to us that we could able establishing Mundgod and Bylakuppe Tibetan settlement,” the Tibetan spiritual leader introduced briefly about the south Indian Tibetan settlements before the beginning of the initiaton according to the official report of CTA.

“As per request from Sera Je Monastery, I have accepted to bestow this initiation. There are disciplines in order to take initiation and most of all is to have faith, which I can see in all of you. I even did Mo and it showed really good. So I think it is good to confer initiation to all of you.” His Holiness said at the beginning of the Hayagriva initiation (tamding yangsang kawang).

His Holiness told that the Sera Jey Monastery in Tibet has a unique relation with Hayagriva and therefore told it was appropriate to confer the initiation today.

“Our ancestors have done their best to preserve and move forward with Tibetan Buddhism. We refugee in India have now best chance to preserve that. Early in days our religion is just a ritual and praying alone but when we reach in India we have started to study Buddhist text of Nalanda not only in monks and nuns but also in lay people.” His Holiness added.
