Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama on Wednesday offered his condolences to the tragedy of Taiwan earthquake that injured more than 200 people, claiming around six lives. His Holiness condoles the losses in a letter his office wrote to the president of Taiwan.
In a letter he wrote to the President of Taiwan Ms. Tsai Ing-wen today, His Holiness the Dalai Lama expressed sadness over the loss of life and extensive devastation caused by a strong earthquake that struck Hualien city last night.
“I understand that every effort is being made to rescue the injured and provide relief to those affected by this tragedy,” he added. “I offer condolences to Your Excellency and to the families who have lost loved ones.” according to the official website of his office.
Around the midnight clock of Tuesday, an earthquake shook in Taiwan toppling many buildings while people were sleeping inside. According to the updates, an earth quake of magnitude 6.4 quake hit the popular tourist city Hualien on late Tuesday leading to more than 5 people dead, over 250 people injured as a result of it.
The national fire agency said at least five people had been killed and 247 injured across the city. But the toll could rise as rescuers discovered further bodies. Yun Tsui residential building has its base floors collapsed leading to the leaning of the entire 12 story building. It is being taken in grave concern as it houses a restaurant, shops and a hostel.
