His Holiness the Dalai Lama unveiled the foundation stone of the South Asia hub of the Dalai Lama Centre For Ethics and Transformative Values in Hyderabad, Telangana India. The event took place in the presence of Telangana Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan, Deputy Chief Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali and Industry Minister K.T. Rama Rao on Sunday.
“Tibet’s spiritual leader Dalai Lama on Sunday laid the foundation stone for a South Asia hub of the Dalai Lama Centre For Ethics and Transformative Values here.” said the news report in the Business Standard.
The ceremonial event took place in the presence of the state dignitaries presided over by His Holiness the Dalai Lama at Madhapur, the IT hub, where His Holiness also delivered a public talk on “Ethics, Values and Well-being”.
“Although we are physically, mentally and emotionally the same, there are differences between us. I’m Tibetan, I’m Buddhist and I’m the Dalai Lama, but if I emphasize these differences it sets me apart and raises barriers with other people. What we need to do is to pay more attention to the ways in which we are the same as other people.” His Holiness taught the gathering of around 1000 people about the importance of having a sense of the oneness of humanity.
According to the report, the Dalai Lama centre for Ethics and Transformative Values is coming up on a five acres land allotted by the state government for the purpose.
According to Tenzin Priyadarshi, the Centre’s President and CEO, the Centre designs and disseminates programmes that are most relevant to the issues facing humanity said the Business Standard report.
“Since its inception 2009 at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the Centre has been a driving force in fostering individual and organisational ethics and value-driven leadership,” he said according to the report.
The event took place at the site on Hitex Road, Madhapur, where the Dalai Lama Center for Ethics is to build its South Asia Hub. This will be a cooperative venture supported by the MIT based think tank and the Telangana State Government.
