The Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama while granting a special audience to the faculty and students of the Sherab Gatsel Lobling, a special school for newly arrived Tibetans in Dharamsala, His Holiness advised that the practice of favoritism such as regionalism is a sign of backwardness and told all the three provinces of Tibet to remain united.
While the Sherab Gatsel Lobling celebrated the Silver Jubilee Celebration on May 26, which was graced by the President of Central Tibetan Administration along with Tibetan Parliamentarian Ven Monlam Tharchin and Namgyal Yemphel, Director of Sambhota Tibetan schools. The students and faculty of the institute were granted a special audience by His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
The Tibetan spiritual leader while explaining that the practice of favoritism by people is a sign of backwardness and advised to maintain unity among all the three provinces of Tibet. His Holiness also told during the special audience that Tibetans in exile must preserve and propagate the unique traditional and cultural values through unity.
Sherab Gatsel Lobling School was established in 1993 to provide education to newly arrived Tibetans from Tibet especially youths aged between 18 and 30. It was initially administered by the Tibetan Reception Centre, and was later handed over to the Department of Education, CTA in February 2002. Currently it is managed by Sambhota School Administration, a registered organisation under the Education Department, based in Dharamshala.
The school has offered education to over 6,000 students since its inception.
