Court Rejects Bail Plea Of Indians Who Murdered A Tibetan

The District Court in Dharamshala has rejected the bail pleas for the three Indians who are charged with the murder of a Tibetan youth last year.

The three Indians are in the police custody for the brutal murder of a Tibetan youth, Tsultrim Chokden in an incident in the midnight of 30th October last year. The three Indians’ bail has been rejected by the coutrt hearing that took place today.

“Based on the evidence and documents we provided, the court today rejected the bail plea of the three accused persons,” Advocate Tenzin Namgyal said to a report on Tibet Express.

The report also informed that this was the seconded plea for bail from the accused and their earlier plea on 2nd July had failed due to the failure of their advocate to show up on the date.

Further in the report, we have learned that the hearing of the murder case is scheduled by the end of this month and if their charges were proved, they would be sentenced for life imprisonment.

“We have 15 witnesses along with the documents and evidences we presented before the court, out of them only two are Tibetans; the girl Chokden was walking home and the former Tibetan Settlement Officer (TSO), Sonam Dorjee. Since Sonam Dorjee has moved abroad and couldn’t attend the case hearings any more, it hampers our case,” said the advocate according to the report.

The advocate also appealed the Tibetan NGOs and the local population to pay more attention towards the case. He also requested the heads of NGOs to attend the hearing.

The incident of murder took place on the Bagsu Road at Dharamshala when the victim was walking his lady friend home after dinner. The three Indians who were drunk followed them on bike. The Tibetan was brutally stabbed after he fought back to their harassment in that midnight and he succumbed to the injuries on his way to hospital.

The report also cleared away of the rumour that the prime witness of the incident, the victim’s lady friend, who according to a rumour said that she had left abroad which significantly weakens the case, she is present in India and will be appearing at the court hearing.
