The chief minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Pema Khandu has credited the Buddhist spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama for shaping him as a person. According to an interview of the chief minister on the occasion of His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s birthday, he has reiterated of the faith people from his native has in His Holiness.
The exiled Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama turn 84 on Saturday and millions of his followers and devotees around the world rejoiced in joy. Namrata Biji Ahuja from The Week has interviewed some of important people including His Holiness himself on the occasion.
Besides, His Holiness, The Week has interviewed President of Central Tibetan Administration, Dr. Lobsang Sangay and Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, Shri Pema Khandu. The Arunachal CM has explained in the interview that His Holiness’s teachings in the 21st century has help shape him as a person.
“His Holiness the Dalai Lama is an embodiment of compassion, and we revere him as the living Buddha. We always try to emulate his teachings in our day-to-day lives. I had the privilege of meeting His Holiness on several occasions. His Holiness stresses more on human values, love, compassion and peaceful co-existence. His approach towards Buddhism is rational, which is practical and relevant in the 21st century. These teachings have shaped me as a person.” said CM Khandu while reflecting on his experiences with His Holiness the Dalai Lama over the time.
The CM further explained of the impact that His Holiness’s teachings are mostly on human values of love, kindness, large-heartedness, compassion and our humble attitude towards the fellow human beings. Whenever he does anything or meet somebody, he tries to emulate these teachings of His Holiness. It has immensely benefited him.
