CM H D Kumaraswamy Attends Tibetans’ ‘Thank You Karnataka’ Event with Dalai Lama

The Chief Minister of Karnataka state, Shri H. D. Kumaraswamy on Friday morning attends as the Chief Guest of the ‘Thank You Karnataka’ event organized by Tibetan people living. The event is a part of CTA’s year long gratitude campaign and the event has become even more special under the graceful presence of His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

While the event is under way at the Taj Hotel in Bengaluru, besides the graceful presence of His Holiness and the Karnataka CM, CTA President Dr. Lobsang Sangay as well as TPiE speaker Ven. Sonam Tenphel along with Indian dignitaries and Tibetan representatives are present at the event marking the expression of Tibetans’ gratitude to Karnataka for their support.

Dr. Sangay while addressing the gathering explained that Karnataka state has the largest number of Tibetan refugees, largest number of Tibetan monks, Largest number of Tibetan schools and it is also the seat of three largest institutes of Tibetan Buddhism. After Chinese invasion of Tibet, with the help of India and Karnataka government, Tibetans have been able revive and preserve Tibetan culture and traditions in India.

Although the initial program of CTA’s ‘Thank You India’ event scheduled to take place in New Delhi faced a set back after the Indian dignitaries were directed to not attend the event in order not to upset China in March this year, ‘Thank You Karnataka’ was acknowledged with the presence of honorable CM H. D. Kumaraswamy.



“I am overwhelmed with the way this event has been organized. It is an inspiration for us to have a strong bonding with the Tibetans. For centuries, Tibet and India have shared a unique cultural and historical relationship. Tibet’s connection with India has deepened after India offered in exile, Tibetans a home away from home six decades ago.” addressed the CM at the gathering adding that Tibetans have become one among them.

Shri H.D. Kumaraswamy also told that as per the five Tibetan settlements present in Karnataka, Tibetans have become resilient and contributed equally in state development and also assured to extending all kinds of supports and cooperation. The CM concluded the address by expressing his salutation to His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
